WELCOME TO
Caregivers Empowerment Network – Africa (CENet)
Caregivers Empowerment Network – Africa (CENet) is a registered non-governmental organization (NGO), founded in 2024, with a bold vision to transform the lives of family and unpaid caregivers across Africa. Our work is rooted in the belief that caregivers—often overlooked and undervalued—deserve recognition, support, and empowerment.
Based in Kenya and active throughout sub-Saharan Africa, CENet focuses on improving the lives of caregivers who support individuals with non-communicable diseases (NCDs), disabilities, age-related conditions, or long-term illnesses such as HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis (TB). We work to amplify their voices, influence policy, and create systems that uphold their rights and well-being.
Through a combination of policy advocacy, research, mental health support, capacity building, and networking, we are creating a movement that centers caregivers as vital contributors to public health, community resilience, and national development.
Our Focus Areas
CENet delivers a wide range of programs and services aimed at strengthening the caregiving ecosystem across Africa
A family caregiver (or unpaid caregiver) is an individual who provides ongoing care and support to a family member, relative, or community member who cannot fully care for themselves. This support is often required for long periods—ranging from six months to a lifetime.
Care recipients are usually people living with non-communicable diseases (NCDs), deteriorating age-related conditions, disabilities, or chronic illnesses such as TB, HIV, and AIDS. They often depend almost entirely on caregivers for daily living, medical monitoring, and emotional support.
